How to get there: Go to Settings in the sidebar → Users tab (under Configuration) → User Segments section.
Create segments to group users by criteria (like "Enterprise customers" or "Power users"), then analyze which segments are requesting or voting on features.
What Are Segments?
Segments are saved filters that define a group of users. For example:
- Enterprise - Users with MRR > $500
- Churned - Users with status "canceled"
- Power Users - Users with more than 10 votes
Once you create segments, you can:
- See which segment a post author belongs to
- See what percentage of voters on a post belong to each segment
- Filter posts to find features requested by specific segments
Creating a Segment
- Go to Users
- Apply filters to define your segment (e.g., set MRR minimum to 500)
- Click Save Current
- Enter a name for your segment (e.g., "Enterprise")
- Click Save
Your segment is now available for filtering posts.
Segment Criteria
You can create segments based on any combination of:
- MRR or LTV ranges
- Plan type
- Customer status (active, churned, etc.)
- User groups
- Vote or post counts
- Account age
- Last login date
Using Segments on Posts
Filter by Author Segment
Find posts submitted by users in a specific segment:
- Go to Posts
- In the sidebar, find Author Segment
- Select a segment
- Only posts from authors in that segment will be shown
Example: Filter by "Enterprise" to see all feature requests from enterprise customers.
Filter by Voter Segment
Find posts where a minimum percentage of voters belong to a segment:
- Go to Posts
- In the sidebar, find Voter Segment
- Select a segment
- Enter a minimum percentage (e.g., 50)
- Only posts where at least that percentage of voters are in the segment will be shown
Example: Filter by "Enterprise" with 50% minimum to find features that enterprise customers care most about.
Show Segment Columns
Display the percentage of voters from each segment as columns:
- Go to Posts
- Click the Columns dropdown
- Scroll to Voter Segment %
- Enable the segments you want to see
You'll now see columns showing what percentage of each post's voters belong to each segment.
Example view:

Tips for Using Segments
Prioritize High-Value Features
Create an "Enterprise" or "High MRR" segment, then:
- Go to Posts
- Enable the segment percentage column
- Sort by that column to see which features your highest-paying customers want most
Identify Churn Risks
Create a "Churned" segment based on customer status, then:
- Filter posts by Author Segment = Churned
- See what features churned customers were requesting
- Consider prioritizing these for retention
Compare Segment Needs
Enable multiple segment columns to compare what different customer tiers want:
- Which features do Enterprise customers want that SMB doesn't?
- What do free users request that paid users don't?
Track Segment-Specific Requests
Use Author Segment filtering to:
- Review all feedback from enterprise customers
- Find requests from trial users
- Identify patterns in churned user requests
How It Works
Behind the scenes:
- When you save a segment, the criteria are stored
- Each user is automatically tagged with which segments they belong to
- Each post tracks what percentage of its voters are in each segment
- This data updates automatically when users are edited or votes change
