How to get there: Open any post → in the right sidebar, expand the Linked Posts section → click Add link.
ProductLift is designed to simplify the management of feedback and feature requests, allowing you to create dependencies and relationships between posts. This guide will walk you through the process of linking posts together, which is particularly useful when managing related features or tasks.
Begin by navigating to the feedback page in ProductLift. Here, you will see a list of items, such as feature requests or bug reports, submitted by users.
Identify the posts you want to link. For this example, we will connect the first two items related to the contact form. These posts can be features, bugs, or any other type of feedback that you want to associate with each other.
Click on the first post that you want to link. This will open the detailed view of the post, where you can manage and edit its properties.
Scroll down to the "Linked Posts" section within the post details. Initially, this section will show that no posts are linked.
Click on the "Add link" button. This will allow you to search for other posts that you want to link to the current post.
In the search field, type in the name or a keyword of the post you want to link. For instance, search for "contact form custom fields" to find the related post.
Once you find the related post, select it. You will then need to define the type of relationship between the posts. Options typically include:
Blocking: Indicates that the selected post must be completed before the current post can proceed.
Child: Suggests a hierarchical relationship where the selected post is a sub-task or sub-feature of the current post.
Dependency: Shows that the current post depends on the completion of the selected post.
For our example, if one post must be completed before the other, you might select "Dependency."
Provide a brief explanation or comment about the relationship. This helps other team members understand why the posts are linked and the nature of their dependency.
Click "Create Link" to finalize the connection between the posts. The linked post will now appear in the "Linked Posts" section, clearly showing the defined relationship.
To ensure everything is set up correctly, open the second post. You should see a reference back to the first post, indicating the established dependency or relationship.
Use Clear Descriptions: When adding an explanation, use clear and concise language to describe the relationship.
Regularly Review Links: Periodically review linked posts to ensure that dependencies are still relevant and accurately described.
Communicate with Your Team: Make sure your team is aware of any critical dependencies that might affect project timelines.
By following these steps, you can efficiently manage your feedback and feature requests in ProductLift, ensuring a well-organized and productive workflow. Linking posts helps in prioritizing tasks, managing dependencies, and maintaining clear communication within your team.
