Managing boards

How to get there: Go to SettingsBoards.

Boards are an essential part of ProductLift's setup. You see them at the top of the screen and they help your users navigate your product portal.

Steps to create a new board

  1. Go to Settings → Boards.
  2. Click the Add Board button.
  3. Give your board a name and pick a board type (Feedback, Roadmap, Changelog, Knowledge Base, Kanban, or Link).

  1. Fill in the rest of the board settings:
  • Page title -- the header shown when a user opens the board.
  • Page description -- the message below the header.

  • Menu title -- the name of the board in the boards bar.
  • Menu subtitle -- the subtitle below the menu title.

  • Choose the display method, sorting, and other layout options.
  • Click Save.

Hiding the board

Use the visibility toggle if you only want admins to see this board. Useful for moderation queues, internal review boards, or work-in-progress areas.

Adding statuses

Statuses connect posts to boards.

You don't have to set a status. For example, you can use a board purely as an introduction or landing page.

Click Add Status and provide a name. The status becomes available everywhere posts can change status.

Submission UI

Each board's edit page has a Submission UI section that controls how users submit posts:

  • Sidebar Form -- show an always-visible submission form on the left or right side of the board, or keep it hidden.
  • New Post Button -- toggle whether the "New Post" button appears at the top of this board.

Voting & Comments

The Voting & Comments section per board controls:

  • Enable voting -- allow users to vote on posts.
  • Enable commenting -- allow comments on posts. Disabling also hides the inline comment form on changelog entries for this board.

For changelog boards there's also an Enable reactions and inline comments toggle that controls reactions and the inline comment input under each entry.

Posting Defaults

Each board's edit page has a Posting Defaults section (look for the "Portal-wide" badge). These defaults apply to every post submitted to any board, but they're surfaced inside each board for quick access:

  • Anonymous Posts -- allow or disallow posts without a logged-in account.
  • Anonymous Voting -- allow or disallow voting without an account.
  • New Post Button Label -- the label of the "New Post" button (e.g. "Add Feature or Bug"). Showing the button itself is per-board, but the text is portal-wide.
  • Title Label -- override the "Title" field label on the post submission form.
  • Description Label -- override the "Description" field label.
  • Categories -- let users choose a category, and optionally require one.
  • Post Instructions -- shown above the submission form to guide users on what to include.
  • Success Message -- shown after a post is submitted.
  • Comment Instructions -- shown above the comment form (leave empty to hide).

Because these settings are portal-wide, changing them on one board updates every board.
